The owners and staff, which means Marta and Alejandro Grillo, who are retired school teachers, and Theresa, who not only makes up the rooms but, together with Marta, bakes fantastic pastry. I suggested that they open a postreria on the key drag of El Calafate, Libertador. One recommendation -- take cabs to and from La Casa. It is a lonely three-quarters of a mile from downtown, and if you walk, the dogs like those everywhere in Patagonia will bark at you much of the way. On the other hand, it is wonderfully calm when you get there.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, but it is a little walk from the town definitely not in the centre of activities. However for us liking it a little quiet it suited us very well.

The staff are just lovely and it is a great place to rest after the hustle and bustle of hostel life. Not a place to party but a great place for some R and R. The staff were extremely helpful in organising trips, taxis, info on the town and welcomed us warmly inot their home. Coulnt reccommend this place more highly if you are after a quiet night and a freindly face!

Everything is new and friendly, the housekeepers are geourgious and helpful, even with non-spanish-speaking tourists.
