The agency employees were really friendly and helpful but there was some confusion over my booking and what was on offer. i was upgraded to a solo room for free. The food within the hotel was very good but somewhat overpriced and also the room was comfortable.

Perfectly fine place, if a little pricey for Bangladesh. There were no westerners staying here when i was here and judging by the fact that a couple of members of staff took pictures of me, presumably because of my skin and hair, I'd say they are a rarity. In my 4 days in Dhaka I have not seen a single white person, so it is perfect for immersing yourself in Bangladeshi life. Just stay somewhere closer to the centre if you can. But this is a good place if you can't.

Finding Bangladesh Travel Homes from the internet was a lucky stroke of fate for us, because for a backpacker finding reasonably priced housing in Dhaka is quite a challenge. Also, nowhere else in Asia had we experienced so much helpfulness in one hostel. When we needed to change the booking they had no problem doing it and then, when we still arrived on the day we had already cancelled, they still bargained a very good taxi cab cost for us at 6 AM in the morning and welcomed us in their hostel. The rooms are clean; showers are hot; generator works when theres no electricity; cable TV has channels for each and every taste; room service is a lot more than helpful; the sheets and towels are super clean and food is good. The hostel itself is situated quite far from the sights and also the old town, but there are a lot of rickshaws to take and also the hostel employees is often willing to help you find a taxi. Also there is certainly a shopping mall very close to the hostel and an internet cafe with very good connections and a back up generator for when the power goes again. Theres even a little pizza location nearby for the ones craving comfort food. We, as many others before us, had heaps of prejudice about Bangladesh, but it all went up in smoke as soon as we crossed the border in Siliguri. Bangladesh individuals are so kind, so sweet, so nice and helpful. Even if they dont speak English, they try to help you. Bangladesh is so much cleaner than India, the individuals are calmer and also the food is greater and less spicy. Tourists in Bangladesh are rare, so you are guaranteed to really feel like you are off the beaten track, properly all the time. In case you book through Hostelbookers you are guaranteed to meet Mr Milan, the man who has his heart set on getting tourists to come and see Bangladesh to drop all stereotypes you may have. He is also the one who will help you with everything you might think of asking or needing (he is even willing to help you with your visas). As we were only passing through we opted for the one day Dhaka city tour. Dhaka is huge and hot, so seeing it with a car with AC is the only humane option. The street is crazy, so a lot of time will be spent in street jams, but the times you really manage to see one thing are worth the effort. Mr Milan is a lot more than happy to tailor-make the tour, so be informed and ask what you would like. Also, dont be afraid to eat delicious local food (be careful with the ice though). And one a lot more word of warning, in case you manage to get the oh-so-handsome cricketer as your guide, it is quite likely that instead of Dhaka you will be looking at him all the time :)

Very handy to/from Airport but quite far from downtown. Maybe a wonderful choice when you need to escape the crowds. Room service was thoughout available. Manager Milan is very useful in every single aspect. Good value for money. Always recommendable! Chris Rommel, Hong Kong
