The staff is great, the location top. The dorms often have bed bugs and the aircondition some time is not strong enough to chill brazilian warm nights. Internet was working only one day, i ve been here twice and both the times they had problems with internet. The tour they offer are a bit expensive, but why not. Overall it has been a nice experience but mostly because of the people that work there and sleep there more than the facilities that following my own opinion are a bit under che largato s standards. |

Was a good hostel but they need to get some a/c or fans in the common areas where the bar & internets are as its way too hot. The rooms were nice & roomy though & cool, most of the staff were pretty unhelpful which we were disappointed about too |

Everyone of the staff told us another price for our stay. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom and there was no water!!! People didnt want to communicate, dont know why. Close to the beach, thats good! |

I liked the cleanliness and the staff is very helpful and nice. I strongly recommend this place, a few blocks from the beach ;-) |

I liked the breakfast and staying in Ipanema. But the rooms are small and smelly, the bathrooms just disgusting. The ladies from the reception not helpful at all (except one from the morning). Disappointing |

BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS!!!!!!! The most dirtiest place I have ever stayed in. Move bed 3 times and still got bitten by bed bugs. I have about 90 bites all over my body. I have told the staff of the bed bugs issue and they just change your bed and do not fumigate the beds at all. They just put someone else on the bed. Since staff does not take the complaint seriously, there is nothing else to do but find another place to stay. I was not the only one with bed bugs. I stayed in a dorm with females only and 2 other girls got bitten as well. One girl had bite on her face and all over her body. Breakfast is quite late at 9am if you arrive at say 915am all the food is gone. They dont provide enough food for everyone so you cant sleep in or you miss out on breakfast. The night staff was very unhelpful. There no time limit on the internet so some people spend hours on it even though you are waiting. Since it free I think they should put a time limit and if there is no one waiting then you can spend as long as you want on it. i rather pay more money then to stay here again. I am completely put off with this place and did not enjoy my stay at Rio at all. |

Location & costs are the key here. 2 blocks back from the best beach in Rio & cheaper than the rest. In saying this, you get what you pay for. Staff were clueless. They tried to help but had no concept of the booking process. One day we were asked to move to another dorm, only to be moved back into the same dorm (& beds) 3 hours later. Trying to extend our stay was impossible. They basically told us to go elsewhere. Only because we were tight & couldnt afford anywhere else made us stay. We ended up booking online, it was simpler. The staff arent very clued up on public transport & budget activities, preferring to order you a taxi or selling one of their explensive tours. eg Other hostels offer the football match for a fraction of the cost - same seats. Room rates are confusing. The rates at the hostel differ to the prices online. YOU WILL PAY EXTRA. We ordered the 8 bed dorm & were put in the 12 bed. Yellow rates, green rates. no such thing. The staff cannot offer any reasoning for this. The 12 bed dorm was very stuffy. No air con & opening the door lets in the mozzies. The Internet is always down & the keyboards dont work. The Breakfast was very good - fresh fruit, juice & cake. plus all the other standard stuff. |
