Customer Review on 11 May 2012
The main very good thing about this property was the price. We need a spot for three people to spend time prior to flying out at 2am. Kitchen was a joke - about the worst I have ssen. Luckily we didn&'t need to use it extremely much. Was hard to get 3 mugs to make a cup of tea in. Bar was a very good spot to eat a easy meal during the night time with very good views. Staff very useful with everthing including calling taxi cab for 10. 30pm. Inexpensive for Rio which has inflated prices for accommodation.

If you are searching for a luxurious-close to the beach-place to stay in Rio, and your only intentions are staying a few days inside the swimmingpool of the hotel. forget about Villa Leonor. Nevertheless, in case you want a fabulous place, with massive comfy cute rooms, excelent service with all kind of useful info (I mean useful, not touristic bullshit), excellent scenery of the city, nice guests and great talking to people, Villa leonor is your place. Ok the house is old, and it&'s close to the trees, but you are staying in Rio, in Santa Teresa, isn&'t it Just stay and enjoy :)

Surrounding streets have sort of nice historic vibe, extremely cool vistas and feels quite safe. place for stairs lovers

The character and location were great, really near to a tramline which although wasn&'t working at the time provided an excellent means of navigation through the winding hilly streets. Employees were warm and friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. The communal area looks out over the city and was a really relaxing environment decorated exentrically.

The location, the gorgeous old house, the terrace, the breakfast, the kitchen, the monkey that visited in the tree at the terrace. The owner was really nice and helpful.

We stayed two nights in Villa Leonor within the beginning of our stay in Brasil and then we came there again when back in Rio. The hostel has an atmopshere - the walls are all painted in different colours, a lot of artwork with enjoyable details all around, maybe not everything is restored yet but the combination of old and new is actually what we liked. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was exceptional and it was served on a terrace with a nice view of the city. Most importantly, the employees was extremly helpful - on the arrival they gave us detailed instructions (both written and spoken) how to get around and later helped us to get many other items from taxi to pizza :) We were lucky enough to join a party one evening and see the fire performance of Rudi - one of the employees members who you should definitelly have a chat with - you will learn a lot about Brasil ;) On your arrival/departure you can lock your bags in a little room that also serves as a &"back office&" for the staff, there is certainly also a safety box. The hostel is definitelly exceptional value for money.
Customer Review on 30 March 2012
Really like the location with bohemian style, lots of nice people, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic staff, safe location with good alternatives for the night life in Lapa and in Santa Teresa just few mins away. I stayed there just 2 night and I wish I could stay there longer.
