Awesome place for backpackers ! I&'ve been travelling a long time and it brings back memories of the &'old-school&' S. E. Asia hostel spirit ! Super friendly, very peaceful with a amazing family/social setting (we had two kids with us and they loved it). Nice rooms, hot water, secure and secure. The owners, Evan and Francesca, go out of their way to create sure you have all the information you need to appreciate your stay. The dogs are very warm and friendly and part of the overall atmosphere, particularly Dexter. That said, I think Oscar the cat is in charge of everything :-) Great location to stay and I&'d thoroughly suggest it to anyone travelling to Jaco.

Family run and really friendly. Evan was really knowledgeable about local info and activities. He even went the extra mile to get me a bus ticket for my departure, as well as arranging pickup at the airport for me. It&'s a really safe facility. I, and others, left my phone and valuables out for hours and even a day at a time and no one touches your stuff. The public region is fantastic for meeting people and simply because it&'s not a huge hostel everyone becomes pals and is interested in meeting everyone else. The pool was fantastic for lounging or volleyball, and in case you wanted the ocean it was a 2 minute walk away. and not crammed with travellers which was awesome. Kangaroo has a nice region for numerous activities like billiards, and I was able to do yoga there as well as receive a fantastic massage. Evan&'s step-daughter Julie even baked brownies and other goodies for everyone which were so yummy considering Costa Rica isn&'t known for its baked goods. And in case you want local authentic food at a fantastic cost there is a restaurant right beside the hostel. And with the bikes and surf boards provided for free, Kangaroo also saves you money exactly where those items usually cost money anywhere else. I&'ve stayed at hostels in Asia and Europe, and this one was my favourite. They say the people make the place, and it can&'t be a lot more true for Kangaroo. It was so exceptional that I, along with others who I met, returned there later in their Costa Rica adventures. I&'ll definitely go there again if I ever return to the country.

Staff really nice and helpful. Bikes for rent for free. Room was really massive and clean. Pool and cooking area available. Extremely peaceful atmosphere. Takes 2 minutes by taxi cab or 5 by bicycle to the city center. We would come again :)

The employees was very welcoming and helpful. One of the owners, Evan, made sure everything was taken care of during my stay. It had a very household really feel about the place and I became friends with several other travelers. The rooms and facilities are clean. The pool was great. It&'s close to the beach and I borrowed bikes and a surfboard. It&'s a short ride to town and I walked it once too. It was silent and warm and friendly and I often felt my stuff was safe there. They have 5 very warm and friendly and cute dogs.

Wow this is my second trip to costarica and my second time to jaco Jaco is a excellent first destination to reach the beach, don&'t, waste time in sanjose feel the heat of the coast right away and see why it is so popular with tourists and ticos. This hostel delivers it all near to the beach and far enough away from the noisy main drag. An excellent common area, kitchen, and pool to cool off in, very best of all were the no cost bicycles to use to go to town, The owners and employees made me feel very welcome, and I instantly missed them as nicely as the traveller&'s I met there when I left. Excellent job!

I loved everything! You were just enough out of town so it wasn&'t busy, but stores && restaurants were just a short walk/bike away. Bryan was the greatest and the rest of the Kangaroo family were so kind and inviting and will ensure you have all you need from surf lessons to a chaperon to the local nightly hot spots. Never a dull moment here, Kangaroo was the highlight of my trip to CR! Pura Vida!

Excellent environment and extremely warm and friendly owner. To be in kangaroo hotel is to feel at home. I recommend this location for everybody who wish to stay in Jaco. Definitely will be there on next take a look at in Jaco.
