Excellent value for money in a city which can be quite expensive! The hostel was very well situated, close to the principal shopping street and all of the restaurants and bars. The staff must be commended on their friendliness and helpfulness, but then again, we didn&'t come across anyone in Iceland who wasn&'t like this! The room itself was very clean and we had no complaints with it. One thing to note is that this is a Hostelling International (HI) hostel, and so to get the less costly cost as advertised you must be a member of HI. Don&'t worry if you&'re not already a member though (we weren&'t) as you can purchase a membership at check-in, valid for one year. In case you don&'t do this then there&'s a small charge levied per night, so buying a membership may well pay for itself! There was also a (very) small charge for bedsheets and towels but this is not uncommon in hostels and it certainly wasn&'t a deal breaker.

This is the really best hostel I&'ve ever stayed at! It feels like home away from home. And also the staff have been so sweet and helpful! I would recomend for everyone to stay here!

The location, kitchen area, warm and friendly staff, cafe area and choices for booking trips and tours was great! Very great value for money and much much better than a inexpensive hotel.

Had an awesome time here, everything was great, though the lockers didn&'t work with certain locks. Great location, mostly quiet. Really helpful staff. Would totally stay here again.

It was all the little points that made this hostel great. The super friendly staff who went out of their way (no matter what time of day or night) to create you really feel welcome and help you with info of the city. You could tell they really loved not only their job but their city and country. The rooms were massive and cozy and above all secure with a card key entry system. The breakfast offered was great value for money and tastey. The facilities, communal bathrooms, kitchen and eating location were often kept clean. Lastly the location was perfect, just a brief stroll from the center of town.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when trying to plan and book tours, and were happy to answer any inquiries I had. The dorm room was HUGE and really clean and warm, with a very good bathroom. Useful to have the extra basin inside the room itself in case the bathroom was occupaied. Really friendly atmosphere, fantastic location near to the city centre and harbour. The breakfast was also fantastic value for money.
