All the reviews are true--this location is superb in and of itself, and AMAZING given the price. The room is spacious, clean, and smells great, the home is immaculate and secluded from the significant road, so the entire setting is one of a calm oasis. Continental breakfast, functional wireless internet, consistent hot water, along with the staff are incredibly helpful--one lent us 20 rupees change to pay the rickshaw driver, along with the owner arranged a car to take us to the beach and back to Fort Cochin in less than 5 minutes. If I were to return to Allepey I would not want to stay anywhere else.

Venice Castle is an amazing location to stay while in Alleppey. Mathew and his household are really welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The purpose of our go to was to cruise the backwaters and the boat we booked was a day later then we wanted but Mathew was really flexible with moving our booking dates to accomodate our cruise. Also Mathew has a superb contact with regards to the cruises, but applied no pressure to us to pick the boat he recommends. Also the breakfast is delicious Kerelan food, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the location is central but quiet. We certainly would stay again and suggest Venice Castle.

Great property! Wife and I stayed four nights. Matthew, Mama and employees often smiling and helpful. Lovely home, extremely pleasing decor, lots of tilework, immaculately clean. One block off main road, bus stop and shops. Food exceptional and free internet. This property should be listed in one of the guidebooks as a "favorite pick". Fantastic value!

Simply the really best service we&'ve had in India - Matthew (the boss) sorted us out with a houseboat at 12 hours notice, and gave us a lift to and from the pier for free. The inclusive breakfast was plentiful.

The Location is superb and very near to the Boat Jetty. Matthew and his household are very warm, friendly and helpful. I completely enjoyed my stay at Venice Castle. The facilities were all clean along with the house cooked meals were excellent. A wonderful expertise in Alleppey!

Venice Castle is a beautiful Indian villa on a extremely silent sidestreet just seconds from the canals and principal roads of Alleppey. The property owner was extremely friendly and accommodating throughout our stay and especially when we arrived much earlier than we had advised. The room was large, had a fantastic television with all the satellite channels, was spotlessly clean, had lots of windows overlooking the gardens, and a extremely welcom hot shower! The breakfast was fantastic with western as nicely as traditional indian foods. And the owner then arranged (and extremely kindly paid for) our rickshaw ride to our houseboat.

It was near to amenities and yet tucked away from the main road and quiet. The rooms were large and clean. There were nice places to sit outside. The breakfast was excellent and also the property owner was extremely helpful and welcoming as were other staff and family members. I would suggest this hostel to friends.
