I checked in on Sunday night, paid 900 rupies, and went to bed. when I wnt to leave the next morning (with my paid receipt in hand), the man behind the desk said &"Oh, no, that&'s AC, that&'s 1, 420 rupees. He wanted 520 rupees more! He didn&'t get it, though I hate having to fight my way out of a hotel. It&'s also out of the way not near anything.

The staff is fairly helpful but otherwise our room was dirty (especially the bathroom! ) and it's a bit far from the airport or train stations.

This is definitely not a great location to visit. When you have to pay your bill they say that your deposit which you have paid through hostelbookers, is not for them, so you have to pay it again. They are not extremely honest. You also have to pay an extra deposit for the room which they will not return either. It is not about huge amounts, but it is about the idea. Furthermore their reception is crowded with employees who will all carry one of your bags, in the end you have to tip them all. Soon after all this little amounts you can better spend your money in a better hotel. Because it is extremely low standard here. besides the bad value, the employees in the reception were staring at lady travel mates, who felt actually a little intimidated by them. So my advice is to look further, I am not that disappointed soon.

24h-Check In funktioniert - sind um 03:00 am Morgen gelandet und alles lief perfekt. Ruhige Lage im Hinterhof trotz sehr belebter Verkaufsstrasse. Freundliches und kooperatives Management. Indisches Restaurant im EG mit freundlichem Personal und gutem Dosai-Fruhstuck. Gute Adresse fur Traveller, wenn man zur Unzeit ankommt und einen einfachen Begin in den Tag braucht.

The staff were fantastic. We arrived in Chennai with absolutely nothing booked, Hotel Melody not only accommodated us straight away they were helpful with Rickshaws, getting a low-cost taxi, directions etc. They were so friendly and even let me use their phone to change a flight even though their reception was extremely busy. DONT let the low-cost price put you off - we have stopped at some terrible hotels/hostels in India that have cost a hell of a lot more! I woud definitely recommend this hotel - if ever we visit Chennai again we will definitely stay here. Numerous thanks to all of the staff, you are wonderful! Catherine and Jade from England

While the roms were rather drab and unclean, the staff were very genuine and helpful. At one point they called my partner and I a rickshaw and negotiated a very reasonable price. They were also very helpful when we needed to book our train tickets. Not a terrible place if you have to be in Chennai for one or two nights. Any longer however, and you are very best looking elsewhere
