Galeazza was a wonderful experience. I say encounter and not location because it proved to be far far more than just another location to stay. Clark was the warmest host I have encountered, immediately welcoming me and other travelers in as portion of the family. I think what makes the location unique is the way in which it is run, we cooked dinner together, drank wine and danced to jazz while washing up. I would love to come back for one of the concerts or parties thrown at the castle - they range from monthly jazz concerts to annual holloween parties. It is a relaxing escape, with a wonderful variety of books and a beautiful garden to read them in. Their is a fountain to dip your toes in when it gets hot and beautiful shady trees. One of the funniest moments at dinner was when one guest asked if the castle had any GHOSTS. &"Yes! &" Replied Clark brightly, &"Seven! They are so cute. You can feed them inside the morning. &" We were all a bit bewildered at this. But they ended up being the Galeazza GOATS, not ghosts. Whew! And they were adorable. I would really reccommend Galeazza to anyone with an interest in nature, literature, history, architecture, great company and great food. What it lacks in privacy (bathrooms are shared) it far more than makes up for in personality.

INCREDIBLE UNIQUE STAY! I surprised my girlfriend with a stay here for a night. Inside the middle of the Bologne countryside, this castle is a holiday in itself. Suitable for couples, wanting some respite from the hustle and bustle of busy Italian cities. Relax inside the hammock, go for a cycle or tend to the goats. The property owner Clark was helpful, kind and also great fun. We had homemade pizza inside the great hall with the other visitors and everyone helped out with the cooking - a great way to end our Italian excursion!

Everything, staff, the castle itself, the food, all amazing. i suggest that every traveller young and old stay at this place, it is outstanding to get out of the cities and into other parts of the country.

I had the pleasure of staying at Castello di Galeazza within the summer of 2011. Whilst I arrived alone I was immediately welcomed by the castle family - Clark, interns and fellow guests, who made me really feel right at home. A 5 star hotel this is not. If you&'re expecting to find luxury, immaculately clean facilities and to be waited on hand and foot, then perhaps this is not the place for you. What you will find here is a ridiculously fabulous 14th century castle, rooms fool of character- frescoes, books. A massive garden, lovingly tended to by Clark for hours and hours each day. There are also goats, chickens and a appealing cat. Meals are communal and delicious, and are accompanied by great conversation and a nice drink. Whilst at the castle, you are welcome to wander the grounds, lie in a hammock, borrow a bike to discover the surrounding towns, or of course, you can spend hours, as I did, working your way through the books or the very decent DVD collection within the library. Oh, and there is also wifi. You may also help out with the washing up, gardening, feeding the animals and so on (if you like, not expected). Mostly though, I just spent my time pretending that I actually lived within the castle :) I wholeheartedly suggest this location if you&'d like to meet some interesting people. This was a really special, totally memorable experience.
