I would like to share straightforward lines to people who are planning for their vacation to Malaysia to hang up your travel stay in North Borneo Cavin. Staffs were so approachable and enjoyable to talk with. It seemed like your just roaming around in a space not like no other than a home. Thanks for the great service and hello to my Pinay and Malayans buddies working inside the aforementioned Hostel. Hi to Nanay an old nice Malayan woman for taking pictures. Go their folks!

Location, free internet and they have a tours desk that can get you tours alot more affordable then normal - we saved 50rm without even trying to haggled on our rafting tour

Eventhough the property sits in the middle of the city, the surrounding location is full of trees and not polluted. Extremely convenient, eating places just below the hostel, banks and shopping malls are just few blocks away. In case you want to travel a bit farther, just take the city bus, which is only rm0. 50. You can go to almost any location just by using the city public transport.

Not a bad hostel. Building and beds a little dated, but clean and everything works. Employees were warm and friendly and helpful too. Its a small town so getting around is straightforward - just not so much to/from the airport (if you refuse to pay for a taxi that is! ).

I really didn't like this hostel at all. I booked it because it had great reviews on hostelbookers, but maybe there is wide variation in rooms because I arrived to find a very old, stained pillow and mattress, a fairly depressing/dilapidated/dirty interior decoration, showers that were located across the common room (pretty awkward) from the dormroom, a broken toilet that wouldn't flush for 2 days (they told me just to "manual" flush meaning pour water in), and a fairly unfriendly receptionist who would watch guests struggle to remember the code to come inside instead of just hitting the button to let them in. All in all I was highly disappointed and switched hostels as soon as possible, and ended up finding one just one block down that is fantastic and almost the same price. I'd highly recommend the "Sensi Backpackers Hostel" (used to be called "Blue Ocean") instead because it excelled and exceeded my expectations on every count where North Borneo Cabin highly disappointed me.
