Hotel Mingood

This was a nice, if somewhat dated, hotel in a best place for discovering Georgetown. The employees are incredibly helpful and gave us maps, directions and bus info for everywhere we wanted to go. Also organised boat tickets to Langkawi and cab to the ferry port. Breakfast every single morning (although we were too lazy to get up for it! ), close to Red Garden night food marketplace and bus stops. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly helpful staff. Large room with daily room service. No cost wireless that worked well. Good breakfast on roof top. Good location to explore on foot or take bus.

The employees were far far more helpful than anywhere else we stayed in Malaysia and went out of their way to assist us to enjoy Penang. Their local knowledge was invaluableand saved us money. The roof rooftop is great. The breakfast was restricted but good. The room was small but quite adequate.

Wifi is good. :) free breakfast. super accomodating staff. they often smiling at you. change bed linen and towels everyday. 10-15 mins walking distance to komtar building, hawker center jalan penang, and upper penang.

A fantastic price for a well located, clean, large, cozy room. Whilst not shiny and new, the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, bathroom and room of a fantastic size! It was nice to have a couple of chairs in the room so we weren't always sitting on the beds. In room safe, fridge and TV make for extra value. An added bonus is that a basic breakfast is included in the rooftop dining room / rooftop garden. The hotel is an effortless walk to Georgetown's Heritage area, to the bars along Chulia St, and to a lot of tasty food! Less than 10 minutes walk to Komtar for shopping and to catch a bus to pretty much anywhere on the island (though several of the buses can be caught on Jalan Penang mere mins from the hotel).
