Very nice, easygoing place. Exceptional location, about 50m from bus station && 20m from the beach! Right next to the main shopping street, couldn&'t ask for a far better location, and really very good price. Nice courtyard with hammocks. Employees were warm and friendly and our cabin was nice.

Gama y Pao, los recepcionistas. son lo m&as! no hubiera sido excelente mi estad&ia en Playa si no fuera por ellos, la mejor onda, compa&neros, siempre dispuestos a ayudarte en lo que sea. me llevo amigos del Popol Vuh. La ubicaci&on es la mejor, estas a metros del mejor mar y de la peatonal! El desayuno es muy bueno y abundante, todos los mozos tienen la mejor predisposicion, en especial Charlotte que es una divina total! no se pierdan almorzar en el restaurant del Popol Vuh donde sirven el desayuno!

It was right next to the beach and excellent for the primary shopping and dining street too. I stayed in a private beach hut style room which was fun as well as the beds were comfy. The breakfast was basic but superb considering the cost and style of the Hostel.

The hostel has two exits, one leads directly towards the beach, the other one to the (popular) streets/5th avenue! It is far enough from the loud clubs, but still close enough to walk to! But the big plus was the guy/employee that worked there "Gama". I think everybody who stay'd there will agree. The guy knows his ways around town and will proudly walk with you (after work time! ) to show Playa del Carmen. Also he keeps the atmosphere alive in the hostel. It's a really good place to meet other travellers. I see alot of reviews from people complaining, but if you look around, this is really the best place if you have a small budget and still want a little bit of everything! There are 3 hammocks (get the blue one! ) and a kitchen that has everything except an microwave, but that's okay. We stay'd two night in a dorm with airco and after that, booked another 12 nights in a private room with a fan. We have been travelling around for 7 weeks in Amerika, and popol vuh had by far the best bed!

I had a great stay. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I am going back in a few days. The location is great, couldn't be closer to the beach. It's a perfect place to meet people.
