Alfama Patio HostelAccommodation Type : Hostel Located inside the most characteristic of Lisbons neighborhoods, among winding streets and small cobbled squares, is Alfama Patio (APH): a traditional home, exactly where the living room and kitchen extend onto a grassy garden patio, with greenery climbing the walls and flowers spilling out over their pots. A few steps up, a deck terrace overlook red-roofed buildings and the Tagus River, lying beneath Lisbons trademark golden sunlight.

Very helpful staff, good breakfast (much far better than most hostels and also includes pancakes! ), good tour to sintra and evening BBQ.

Customer Review on 14 October 2011
I loved the place, it had lots of cool art decor, lovely garden and patio. The individuals who were running it were really warm and friendly and helpful. what was so nice, was that their was activities on a board each day which you could go on in case you wanted too, and they charged really reasonable prices. I have already mentioned this location to a lot of individuals already.

The hostel was very clean, close to the centre, had a nice roof rooftop and also muesli & pancakes for breakfast free of charge! In addition, the hostel organises different events each and every night so you can't get bored. 24 hours reception and located in a secure neighbourhood. Last yet not least it is really straightforward to get to the hostel from the airport by public transport. Will definitely stay again!

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I had no idea what to expect. The Alfama Hostel really became a new household to me. Overall the encounter was awesome and gave me one of the very best times of my life! The grounds were very comfortable and cozy. While it was hard to find, this also made it very pretty in that you really got to discover the neighborhood by accident and locate hidden gems. Everyone that worked at APH was so helpful and seemed very concerned about the comfort of the guests. I also did the Sintra tour with Carlos which is not to be missed, he is a great guide with lots of knowledge and pride in his country. I'm not sure if I got lucky, but everyone staying there was warm and friendly and happy to get to know a new stranger. It was at these times, sitting inside the common areas, sharing meals and interacting with everyone that I will take house as one of the most profound experiences of my life. It was a time when the planet felt so much larger, but at the same time smaller. It's at these all too fleeting moments when the beauty in life becomes apparent and makes you forget about all your problems. Staying at APH made my trip to Lisboa one that I won't forget. When I return to Lisboa someday, I will definitely stop by APH to say hello or stay.

Aside fom the location, the WONDERFUL STAFF who are always available, enthusiastic and who goes out of their way to make our stay comfy and genuinely enjoyable. It's like "home away from home". They added good memories to our trip! oh, we adore Tejo! :-D

The breakfast was great, the bathrooms are small, the place is up on the hill & hard to get too during the night time unless you pay for a taxi. Our window was right on the street & the tram starts passing by at 6am so in case you need to sleep forget it unless you are drunk the night before. I personally wouldn't stay there again I would rather stay within the principal region down town.

The hostel is located in the centre of lisbon near to the castle. it is clean, but the kitchen is quite small when you have to prepare your breakfast by yourself. in |
