Paula (who runs the hostel) is exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. She had excellent tips on what do to in Lisbon (and Portugal) and her breakfast is phenonemonal. This is one of the finest hostels we have ever stayed in, and in excellent value for money!

This is the BEST hostel I&'ve stayed in. Period! Paula, i really like you! You single handedly made Lisbon a traveler attraction for us and I look forward to going back to Lisbon and spend a lot more time at Pensao. Breakfast is to die for. Really like the rustic charm along with the fantastic hospitality! My stay is most memorable there. Its like holidaying at your greatest friend&'s home. This is the spot to stay in Lisboa!

Easily the most hospitable hostel and most comfortable stay I&'ve ever had in a hostel! Paula (the one-woman show running the entire hostel) is a TRUE gem and one heck of an amazing woman. From keeping the spot completely spotless, to providing superb recommendations about Lisbon, Paula is WAY much better than most hotel concierges even. And there&'s more! The very best part is the completely PHENOMENAL breakfast Paula dishes up every morning. Plates upon plates of freshly home-baked cakes (Paula gets up at 2am every morning to prepare for the breakfast at 8am), fruit salad, cheeses, pies, ham, coffee, yogurt and so much more! Simply amazing. Do yourself a favor and please stay at the Pensao Royal. I promise you will never ever regret it.

I stayed with a friend of mine in a private twin bedroom. The decoration of the spot is absolutely wonderful. Our room was extremely pretty and bright. Breakfast was great! Paula, the person who does everything for the spot was absolutely pretty and extremely helpful.

Very jolly and eccentric, this is a lovely Pensao, and Paula makes everyone really welcome. It is wonderful to be able to have breakfast (which is great) up until 11am each day, as this means you can live by your own time clock, instead of the hostel&'s. Rooms are bright and clean, as well as the location is really central. We would go back.

We had an awesome time at Pensao Royal, Paula is an exceptional host and went out of her way to make our stay in Lisbon as enjoyable as possible. I would highly recommend staying here, exceptional value for money, great location and very safe and clean!
