This is a very funky basic hotel located only a couple of minutes from Red Square - the location was excellent and not too hard to find. Very close to shops and restaurants etc. There is a subway which can be used to avoid crossing the major road. Yes, there is a bar/disco/nightclub immediately below the hotel and yes, it went all night (not ending until 11am the next day) on both the Friday and Saturday nights, but the noise is muffled and it didn't keep us awake, so I wouldn't let this put you off. There were a couple of downsides mostly to do with the reception staff - only one of them was friendly but the others were difficult or rude to talk to. Our transfer from the airport was not smooth and it must have taken about 30-45 mins to locate our driver after speaking to several people. When we rung the hotel to check, the receptionist asked me to call back in a couple of minutes so she could check with the taxi company. We called back 5 mins later and then she said she was busy and could I call back in another 5 mins!! There didn't seem to be any urgency. We also tried to arrange a Tagansky Bunker Tour (one of the reasons for our visit) which the hotel said they could arrange once we got there. We asked reception to organise it for the next day for us. They had all day to arrange it and asked us to call back before 8pm. We did so and they said they made a phone call but were going to speak to the manager but that it was too expensive anyway. They said to call back in 10 mins. We tried several times calling back, after which they did not answer the phone and then they closed reception and did not even leave us a message. They basically did not try to arrange the tour and we missed out altogether. |

Couldn't ask for a better location! our room was really large and spotlessly clean. Club on the second floor is a happening place. |

The only positives were a very good central location, and the stunningly beautiful russian girl at reception (a sofa in the hallway) who along with a friendly russian cleaner were the only members of staff. |

Very good location. The stairwell and reception area were very arty. The room was spacious and quite comfortable. |

More like a hotel than a hostel. Excellent value for money and outstanding location. No person regularly there but happy to respond to calls. Tidy rooms, ensuite and it is worth saying again. . outstanding location. |

Location is perfect. Rooms are quite big. Plain, but modern and clean. Very nice atmosphere. The building is being renovated, but don't let the outside scare you off. Inside is very very nice. The cleaning lady only speaks Russian, but she is very helpfull. |

Great concept hostel, with quirky fun artwork, great for young people. Bar and nightclub (till 4am) downstairs. Rooms on 4th floor, so no good for the older traveller, or families. Noisy at night. No kitchen or self-catering facilites on site, no breakfast, not even a kettle. No washer/dryer, no storage for luggage, all water to the room turned off at 10. 30am on morning of departure. couldn't even flush the loo. Staff very friendly though. Taxi booked through the hostel cost us 2200 rubels for what was a 500 rouble journey, !! BOOK YOUR OWN, Central location, Handy for the kremlin and red square only, but the wrong side of a very very busy 12 lane main road yes 12 lanes. Quite a walk to the nearest metro - especially with luggage and children. |
