If you&'re looking for cheap, central and secure then this is great choice. The staff were friendly and helpful as nicely as the environment cordial.

It's not really party hostel, but great location, feels very safe inside, you can booze with the stuff. I loved the patio. Very clean. I had great time there, definatelly would come back if in Durban. Recommended.

Guy on reception was very helpful, booked us taxis, food etc when we arrived late at night for one night stay. Bit of a seedy area with people hanging around outside but feels safe enough once you're inside. Dorms are covered in cockroaches though and get the impression the showers etc only clean because they had just been repainted that day. We were glad to only stay one night but it was cheap at least!

Location is very good. near to Florida Road for a night out/food. Really handy for the cricket! Staff are less than enthusiastic. Really loud at night, even gone midnight so if you fancy a outstanding kip this aint the spot to be!

Location was great but surrounding region was a bit dodgey. quite a great stay for the price. would recommomend.

The only positive point about Banana Backpackers, was that the showers were hot and and had fantastic pressure. However it was obvious these were not cleaned on a daily basis! The hostel is really affordable to stay at, but you are getting what you pay for!

Location is good for the center and airport/Baz Bus shuttle. Hostel a bit run-down and not really clean but ok for a night.
