The hostel was filled with seasonal workers who were unemployed. They were often imtimidating and I was even asked for money by one of the guests. The price is reflective of what's offered. The rooms are clean but it's about a 15-25 minute hike to the metro. If I returned to Madrid on a minimal budget, I would return, but if I had a little more cash, I would fork over a couple of extra bucks a night for something more central.

The only reason we stayed in Hwelcome was the price. The hostel has the same price for weekends and the rest of the week, and we just needed a place to sleep for one night. The hostel is cheap & clean, but its locations is awful - it's a dirty industrial area, 20 min walk from the nearest metro station (though there is a bus to the station). A trip from the hostel to the city centre takes approximately 35 minutes (bus/metro). Add 2 euros per person for commuting per day - it might not be worth it. DEFINITELY not a place to stay if you want to enjoy what Madrid has to offer.
