Wow, the guy who helped me and my girlfriend was a character. Huge beard, dark sunglasses that he wore inside the apartment. They operate several buildings, so there's no way to know where you'll actually end up, but they're all close by. We ended up in a converted washing room in an apartment building basement. It was small and a little odd with the tiling and pipes everywhere, but quiet and clean and the shower had hot water with the pressure to clean a horse. There was nowhere to sit, but for the location it was great for the price (literally across from the Prado, but a 20 min walk from the Plaza Mayor). I can't say a thing about the other buildings, though. Also, the guy tried to give us the wrong room (without ensuite) and when we told him he corrected, so be vigilent. |

The place was hard to find. There was no sign outside except for a small label by the intercom. My friend and I booked a twin room but were given a *single* room with 1 bed (in between a single and a queen); just in case you were wondering, we didn't get a rebate for the downgrade. The staff came across as very unhospitable and uncompromising as well. For example, when we asked to store our luggage, they adamantly refused and there was no room to negotiate at all. That had put us in quite a spot and caused a lot of otherwise unnecessary trouble for that day. For the same price, I've been to better youth hostels and would not recommend this hostel. |

Tiny room. but for this price and location, it is more than worthy. and the owner was very nice. He gave us a room with private bathroom(we reserved a room with shared bathroom). |

It felt a little cramped for space but them again so does most of Europe for North Americans. I liked the authentic and antique feeling. It felt like Madrid at and earlier time. I was overjoyed by how convenient it is to Museo del Prado, heart of the city and older districts. Frankly I don't remember if 'HostelBookers' was promoted but I will mark, "yes, " so that I can continue and submit. |

The hostal was in an excellent location! Very easy to get to museums, parks, nightlife, restaurants, etc. |

Room was TINY, had no window and hence no fresh air. The "bathroom" was acutally no room, just an integrated tiny shower and toilet in the room sepereated by a plastic curtain. No charm, no atmosphere! Not even hooks for the tiny towels we paid extra for! The glas door was definitly not safe. But at least the location was great. |

The only thing I liked was the location, it was very central to many places. Thats really about the only good thing about this hostal. |

It is right in front of the Prado Museum in Madrid, price is very good but the rooms are located in several different buildings around the area, so its not a conventional hostal, the staff is very friendly. |
