A very tranquil environment to spend a few days. horse ride at sunset is a must. the food is fantastic as well as the wine is smooth! clean and cozy rooms and nice large towels! go there and relax with miguel, monica, tupac the dog and all the horses. enjoy. thanks again. . tim and sascha

El Galope is the very best hostel we&'ve stayed at so far on our whole South America trip. The staff are so helpful and Monica&'s cooking is the best! There are a lot of walking trails around te property and a beach, which is 15km away, is breathtaking. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking to get away for a calming weekend from the city. Extremely good.

Monica and Miguel are fantastic hosts. El Galope is a house away from home. they prepare marvellous meals and ith only 10 travelers you get the chance to sit around the dining table and share experiences with other travellers. You can bike ride, horse ride or just hang in the hammock and rest. It&'s perfect.

Very rural setting, really really pretty place. it IS a little too far out from town though as properly as the only way of getting there is certainly by walking! employees warm and friendly and helpful and everywhere was spotlessly clean. it was pretty

This was pretty much a perfect place to stay. Set out within the peaceful countryside, Miguel and Monica are great hosts. Our room was super clean and comfortable. We had a fire lit each night to warm the room up. The common area was cosy and comfortable. We spent most of the time in front of the fire. We loved the quiet and solitude out on the farm, and Miguel and Monica did everything they could to create it a great stay. The food was wonderful, with most of the items sourced locally. On supply was horseback riding and the sauna if you could pull yourself away from relaxing. Make sure you try the wine made by their neighbour. It was a great stay and we were sad to leave.

I had a great stay at El Galope. It is situated inside the green countryside, it is a excellent break from the city and extremely easy to reach. Only 50 min bus from Colonia as properly as the owners were just in time waiting at the bus stop. I found the location was just what I needed and a chance to get away form the touristic areas and become familiar with real life at the countryside. It is also on the way and near to Montevideo exactly where I was heading for. I bought food supplies beforehand since one of the reviews said that the meals were too expensive! To my surprise, it was not only cheaper than Colonia and Montevideo, but excellent! Everything is homemade with regional products. Miguel and Monica were excellent cooks as properly as the extremely best hosts. And if you feel like cooking they even provide low cost food products for sale at the hostel! I wish I could have stayed longer! Extremely recommended!
