If you wish to stay in the backpacker district I would recommend Nhat Thao. They are right in the midst but in a silent lane. Reception was very helpful to someone new in Vietnam. Rooms were clean and had fridge, excellent air con and a wide choice of local/international tv. They helped us book buses to Cambodia at a greater price than the local travel agents.

If you wish to stay inside the backpacker district I would suggest Nhat Thao. They are right inside the midst but in a quiet lane. Reception was very helpful to someone new in Vietnam. The location is amazing, the staff is very nice and kind, the cleanliness, the atmosphere of this place, there is certainly rattan chairs in a very nice courtyard.

Big, clean and modern rooms. (Not all of them have windows, but those that have are great) Rather hotel than hostel atmosphere. Good value for money and located in a noiseless -safe- lane in inside the traveller area. Employees was extremely helpfull, and went out of their way to create me feel appreciated as a customer. Most also spoke English on an sufficient level to communicate.
