It was best for what i wanted. The location had wonderful character in a wonderful setting. The employees were very useful and absolutely nothing was too much bother. The facilities were good. The food was good. The room was comfortable.

For those backpackers like me, i suggest you&'d far better live at the YHA in Windermere or Ambleside, Hawkshead YHA is 40 min from the train station by bus and it takes 7 pounds for each ride! besides that, you need to walk 20 min from the hawkshead village center with your luggage in hand! in case you wanna go sightseeing around the lake district, there&'s only one bus depart from Hawkshead and runs only til 6:00pm (holiday on 4:00pm), so i personally think, if youre a backpacker or a solo traveller in Lake District, yha hawkshead would df NOT a very good location to chose! but for those with kids and got cars to ride, the view and surroundings of the hostel is pretty nice!

Staff exactly where really helpful and friendly! and the town near by has a pretty British really feel to it with numerous nice pubs and shops!

The location is totally charming, the meals were fine and reasonable value for money and it&'s always interesting to talk to staff and other residents.

The employees at YH Hawkshead was totally fantastic - really warm and friendly and helpful. There is a decent selection of hot meals cooked for dinner too and the food is much better than expected. All in all, a really warm and friendly hostel at a great price.
