Such a exceptional hostel, a pretty old, narrow building which was excellent for experiencing the gorgeous ancient city of Rome. It had real character along with the property owner (I forget her name! ) was incredibly helpful and let us check in early as we had traveled from Munich and arrived in Rome at 9am! We had to spend the first night in another apartment down the street, but that was fine, it was an even older building and we didn&'t meet anyone else there so it was like having our own little apartment! The owner was really very helpful in telling how to get to places (and the Coliseum was a 5 minute walk away! Can&'t praise this spot enough! Although no bar or lounge area, there was a rooftop region where you could sit and chill, we spent our last night there, viewing the gorgeous city of Rome as the sunset! Fantastic.

They have a cooking area that we can use and we had a fridge inside the room. near to the station and coliseum.

Basic but had everything needed. Staff where friendly when we arrived but didn&'t see them again until check out. Very good proximity to station and not too bad a walk into Rome as it is located near principal road.

Good location, 6 mins walk from the significant train station (yes we timed it! ), 10 minutes to the colaseum, 20 / 30 walk in to the middle of Roma. Staff were polite and helpful most of the time, told us about a cheep laundry spot (7 for a service wash) [as noted in other comments the reception is not 24/7 so actually catching them can be a challenge. ] View from the balcony is worth the climb, espicaly at sunset. I know that below i have listed what seems a lot of negative comments. But none of them in them self will ruin your trip as long as you can deal with them. It was the cheapest hostel in Rome when I booked and for what i paid i got about my moneys worth also as making what i hope will be a friend for life with one of my roommates.

The employees in Casa Olmata was super warm and friendly and also the building was really old but kind of cute and idyllic. The location was great and for example we were able to see the colosseum from our window. There was an small balcony in our room and on the roof of the building there was a nice terrace with gorgeous view.

Very very good location in the centre of Rome. Warm and friendly and helpfull staff. Free breakfast, no actuall time limit. Cooking area and several places to sit on the roof, awesome view.

The location is very excellent - near to the station, and near to the colloseum. Extremely nice view from buildings roof! And also the staff is very helpful with everything - we arrived 9am. and our room was already ready! Room was massive and with massive bed, there was conditioner in room. You can by your own cook your dinner in kitchen on roof!
