Large communal area, no byo, but v affordable bar so it works out ok. Awesome hostel cat called puddles who wanders about the place looking cute. Right in the centre of Taupo, walking distance from supermarket, shops, cafes, eating places and bars. 1 hour no cost computer use per day, plus global gossip wireless $4 for 24 hours. Staff extremely friendly. Lots of movies if its raining or you just want to chill.

The common areas are cosy and you do get to meet other people. The television room is extremely comfortable. Rooms are clean and also the hostel is extremely great situated inside the center and near to the bus station. The kitchen is big.

The location was very handy to the town and also the lake, and there was plenty of private parking for my car. The kitchen location was awesome, there were about six different stations for people to cook with burners and lots of fridge space. I stayed inside the private twin room and also the attached bathroom was an outstanding plus. Everything was very clean inside the room and inside the common area. The employees was helpful with recommending places to eat and fun things to do, also as advice on what to stay away from. The design was fun and youthful, and also the layout of the common room encouraged interaction with others. They also have a liquor license so you can get very great priced beer right inside the hostel.

Really wonderful location, warm and friendly and helpful staff, super clean kitchen, really inexpensive drinks and a meal deal if you cant be bothered to cook! Extremely pleasurable stay.
