Tekweni Backpackers Hostel

Location, location, location! Tekweni is situated just a block from the stretch of Florida Road exactly where the concentration of cafes, bars, and shops is high as well as the region is secure at night. Our double room was situated in a small building behind the primary hostel. We shared the bath rooms and a small kitchen and lounge with the other residents of this house. Our room had a closet and hooks for our stuff yet not much extra space. It was reasonably clean and had large windows. In between our house as well as the primary building was a large patio with tables, a pool, as well as the bar. Inside was a large kitchen and lounge. The employees were friendly and helpful. We used Tekweni Tours to book our safari to Hluhluwe-Infolozi and St Lucia estuary which was simple and convenient. We enjoyed our stay and extended.

Really cool spot and nice atmosphere. Very good party vibe and beds were extremely comfy. I wish I stayed longer.

Great vibe, and it plays fun dance music during the night time so that you can have a few drinks and get on the dance floor without even leaving the hostel!

The employees make this place. i didnt want to leave. very nice vib. rooms are nice and big, really clean and very good showers with lots of hot water. happy days ! if in durban again its the only location ill stay at.

Cool staff and owner, enjoyed chatting with and having beers with them! Braai nights were superb fun, would definitely stay at again on a return trip to Durban

I stayed here one night, coming up from the coast to Durban to catch my flight home. Tekweni is a great place in case you just wish to get drunk and party with other travellers and locals, crashing out late. Useful place for the bars and eating places on Florida Rd.

Florida Road was dead and far from the city center. To get to the beach you had to change buses twice. They had no towels. We came late and stores were closed so in case you come here make sure you bring your own. You could not get one from the hostel even in case you left a deposit. Bathroom was not so fresh and clean. Staff unfriendly, charged 5% when paying by card.
