Interesting experience! The hostel is basically a house with lots of the people actually staying there permanently. Not the very best hostel to go to in case you wish to meet other travellers but fine if otherwise. Fantastic location, walking distance from centre.

Hostel is within walking distance of down-town area, about a twenty minute walk. The twin room we had was very good vaue for money. The kitchen was properly equipped. The location the hostel is located in is quiet and leafy. We enjoyed Salt Lake City, it surprised us as a modern, quiet and clean city. We were able to take a day trip to the snow using suburban public transport. Hostel is pretty clean and homey.

The avenues hostel is in a great location, 10 minutes walk from Temple Square. They provide a great $7 shuttle service from the greyhound station. The rooms are spacious and superb value for money. There are a lot of computers to use, superb wifi and superb no cost breakfast.

Better than the Radisson downtown! Ive stayed at about 50 hostels inside the US and abroad and this was one of the best. My friend and I stayed two nights in a private room, a roomy tall ceiled room with massive old comfy iron bed windows overlooking a noiseless street lined with huge trees. No cost parking is available. This region remands me of a pleasing neighborhood in San Francisco, and Avenue Hostel has got to be one of the greatest values in Salt Lake City. It is in an old historic neighborhood about a dozen long blocks down from Temple Square. The neighborhood feels very secure and as we walked around we passed children playing on the sidewalk and grown-ups enjoying the evening in their small front yards. There is certainly exceptional bus service (and, closer in, rapid transit) and Rodney at the major desk was very helpful and accurate about that. Also there is certainly a exceptional grocery numerous blocks up the street - the grade is a little steep going up, but the good news is that coming back carrying your groceries you are coming downhill just watch for the trip-able upheaves inside the old sidewalk. Tip: busses and rapid transit are free inside the downtown/Temple area, so you just need minimal bus fare or walking time to get to the free zone. The hostel has a full selection of bus route timetables.

Great location - a few blocks from the CBD but located in such a nice suburban area. Stunning houses all around it, it was so nice to stay in an area like that. Hostel was generally clean and staff were mostly helpful and friendly.
