The Gecko is great. It is centrally located in the Old Quarter so almost everywhere (except the bus station) is inside effortless walking distance. The employees are beautiful and really helpful. Free breakfasts were very nice and you could hardly sit anywhere in the common area without being offerred a tea or coffee.

We had a really pleasant stay at the Gecko 2 Hotel. Special thanks to Julia who made us feel really welcome and at home. She arranged an Airport Transfer for us, helped us book our trips to Halong Bay along with the Ninh Binh Province and even took our postcards to the post office. The hotel is really conveniently situated inside the Old Quarter (in a side street, so luckily no traffic noise), only a few minutes from the lake. The rooms are modern (WIFI and Satellite TV) and squeaky clean along with the breakfast is a choice of continental (bacon and eggs / jam and toast) or Vietnamese (Pho / Rice Rolls). If you&'re looking for an cost-effective boutique hotel, this is the place for you.
